This watch has some neat features. They're useful in general and they're very nice for triathlons and triathlon training. Here's what I like best about it.
The velcro strap makes it much easier than a conventional strap to put on and take off quickly.
The very large numbers are easy to see at a glance without glasses and underwater.
The "Lap" feature makes it easy to check whether you're on pace during a run: just push the lap button when you pass a mile marker and read out the time since the last push, a mile back.
The watch adds a "Run" feature to the conventional pair of "Lap" and "Split" features. This lets you see what portion of a workout has been spent on recovery, for example, or how what part of the duration of a car trip was actual driving time.
The multiple interval timers are useful for interval training if you want to have different durations for effort and recovery intervals.
The watch is a little larger than the other Ironman watches, including another one that I have that's a little dressier. Some reviews I've seen say it's too large. I think it's a matter of what you get used to. I like it, and I have a smaller than average wrist.
Lest we forget, the watch has the conventional functions of keeping time and sounding alarms. -- Great Watch, Especially for Triathlon
I love this watch. It is big and simple to use. I love swimming with it. It is a great watch. -- Great Watch
Alright, quickly now...
I have worn rubber watches since the ground-breaking debut of the Casio J-50 Jogger/Pacer watch. Anyone who wears rubber watches knows this drill: wear them until the battery goes; attempt battery replacement; throw watch away and purchase new one (and take advantage of innovations transpiring in the meantime).
This is, far and away, the best rubber utility watch I have purchased. The display is LARGE and has no equal that I could find. The numerous functions and mode features are easily accessible and thoughtfully placed. The construction is sturdy and designed for rigorous wear. The velcro band, vigorously pilloried elsewhere, is the most comfortable and most adjustable I have ever worn. This watch also ticked (seemingly timelessly for a single battery) w/o interruption for three years before... THE DREADED DEATH OF BATTERY LEADING TO OPEN SURGERY.
Well, I did it! IT LIVES!!! I must say that it was a pain in the a** and requires several deep breaths to contain one's frustration. The band does, indeed, have to be removed and is secured by spring-loaded pins that can release the spring-loaded pin portion (to be lost forever in the carpet) quite easily. The battery replacement involves the usual, delicate procedure to emplace the new battery (CR25) typical of such watches, and the screw heads on the back enclosure are especially small. But, nevertheless, it can be done. Hopefully, I won't have to face this coming-of-age challenge again.
I highly recommend this watch for any outdoor (or indoor, for that matter) enthusiast. -- Best Rubber Watch, Ever...
This is my second one of these. the first lasted a long time, but i cracked the crystal and it filled with sea water. The fast wrap band with velcro is the best band you can get. It fits all wrists. Very clear and easy to read in sunlight and in the dark. All the alarms are great too. Recommended highly. -- a great watch
